2013-14 SCHOOL YEAR PROGRAMS

 

Boys & Girls Club of Hopkinsville offers tested & proven programs in five core program areas: Character & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, the Arts and Sports, Fitness & Recreation.

 

Character & Leadership Development

K-Kids & Torch Club are leadership & service clubs for kids age 8-11. Members learn to elect officers & work together on activities in four areas: service to Club & community, education, health and fitness & social recreation.

 

 

 

Keystone Club is a dynamic program that affords teens an opportunity to gain valuable leadership and service experience. They conduct activities in three areas: academic success, career exploration and community service.

 

Education & Career Development

 Project Learn is our signature education program and is comprised of three parts:

 

  • Power Hour provides a quiet time for members to do homework. Computers with internet and Microsoft Word are available.
  •  Tutoring is provided if needed. Members are place in tutoring if they have an 84 (C+) or less in any of their five cores classes; Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Reading and Science.
  •  Club 85 is the recognition portion of Project Learn. Club members that have an 85 (B+) or higher in their five core classes are celebrated with rallies, awards and other prizes.

 

CareerLaunch prepares teens for the working world. Club teens embark on a journey to explore careers, make sound educational decisions and find success in the world of work.

 Meet & Greet is a speaker series that connects local professionals to Club members.

Money Matters promotes financial responsibility and independence among teen Club members. Participants learn how to manage a checking account, budget, save and invest.

 

Health & Life Skills

 SMART Moves allows participants to hone their decision-making and critical-thinking skills, as well as learn how to say no to alcohol, tobacco, drugs and pre-martial sex. SMART Moves is taught at the Club and various schools in Christian County.

Passport to Manhood promotes and teaches responsibility in Club boys ages 8-15. Passport to Manhood engages young boys in discussions & activities that reinforce positive behavior.

SmartGirls_CLRSMART Girls help Club girls explore their own societal attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, and developing positive relationships with peers and adults.

 

The Arts

The Art Club allows Club members to test their imagination and challenge their creativity to produce various works of art such as drawings, paintings, sculptures, and crafts.

Bucket Boys/Girls is a percussion group that teaches Club members drum cadences using mop bucket and drumsticks!

Step TeamSupreme Step Team is a Step/dance group for female Club members.

 

 

Sports, Fitness & Recreation

Bud Hudson Youth Football has given kids a chance to work hard and have fun playing football since 1951. The league provides hands on education in structure, teamwork, and discipline while striving for excellence on the field.

TriplePlay_WellpntTriple Play strives to improve the overall health of members by increasing their daily physical activity; teaching them good nutrition and helping them develop healthy relationships.
